Dalin and Richomme separated by less than three miles after forty-one days at sea

At this rate, they will be able to celebrate New Year's Eve together… In the middle of the South Pacific, barely two nautical miles separate Charlie Dalin, leader of the 10th edition of the Vendée Globe, and Yoann Richomme, his first pursuer, as of Saturday 7:00 a.m.

Dalin (Macif Santé Prévoyance) and Richomme have both passed Point Némo, the most isolated place on the planet, but they are not isolated: while they have almost similar trajectories, around fifteen miles separate them, i.e. less than 30 km, the first named having a slightly more southern position, beyond 55 degrees South latitude. The “third man”, Sébastien Simon (Groupe Dubreuil), is not very far away either, less than 200 miles.

Heading towards Cape Horn, this trio is sailing in comparable weather conditions, between two low pressure systems, with an average wind of around twenty knots and waves of around two meters.

Behind, it is still Thomas Ruyant (Vulnerable) who leads a group made up of eight skippers sailing 1,000-1,500 minutes from the leader – Justine Mettraux closes this group in 11th place, with a large lead over 12th, Clarisse Crémer.
