Sicap Mbao police arrested an individual, CABD, accused of selling electronic cigarettes, commonly known as shisha, to minor students aged under 15, including young girls.
The accused had established a clandestine network to sell his merchandise to a targeted clientele. During recess hours, students discreetly retreated to a corner of their school located in the Dakar suburbs to contribute. A comrade was then responsible for collecting the amount and bringing it to his older brother, CABD, who provided them with hookah.
According to the newspaper Les Échos, this regular practice ended when one day, the students were surprised by the director of the establishment in the middle of a drinking session. Panicked, the young people tried to get rid of the cigarette, but the director had already identified them. After recess, he called them into his office for questioning.
Faced with questions, the students ended up confessing, naming CABD as their supplier, contacted through his younger brother, also a student in the same establishment. Alerted, the Sicap Mbao police located the suspect and arrested him. Taken to the police station, CABD admitted the facts, explaining that he had sold shisha to the students at their request, through his younger brother.
After being placed in police custody, the accused was brought before the Pikine court prosecutor’s office. He faces charges of “incitement to debauchery and other related offenses.”
