Microsoft stops its update again, the list of bugs continues to grow

Microsoft has once again paused the deployment of the 24H2 update of Windows 11. The cause is the emergence of two new bugs among certain users.

The deployment of Windows 11 24H2 will not have been easy for Microsoft. After the numerous bugs identified at the start of the update deployment, the list of problems continues to grow. Microsoft, which has just listed two new ones on its dedicated page, has once again been forced to pause the deployment of its update on the machines concerned.

“Automatic HDR may cause games to become unresponsive or display incorrect colors”

On its page recording all the bugs identified in its 24H2 update, Microsoft has just added one which mainly concerns gamers. After installing 24H2, when AutoHDR is enabled on the PC, the game colors displayed on the screen may be incorrect on some configurations. Microsoft also says that in some cases, games may simply stop responding.

While waiting for a patch to be released, Microsoft has paused the deployment of its update on affected PCs. The Redmond firm also offers a workaround solution that is quite simple to implement, since simply deactivating the AutoHDR option would a priori be sufficient to resolve the problem. To do this, go to Settings > System > Screen > Graphics, then deactivate Auto HDR by returning the settings to default.

Windows 11 24H2 cuts sound on some PCs

The second new bug made official by Microsoft concerns an audio problem. On certain PCs equipped with Dirac Audio audio processing software and having the cridspapo.dll software component, the built-in speakers, but also connected Bluetooth speakers and headphones may stop working. Furthermore, some applications may no longer recognize these devices at all.

For this reason, Microsoft has also stopped the deployment of the 24H2 update on all affected PCs. If the Redmond firm does not give any details as to the machines affected, it indicates that this compatibility problem would be limited to devices from a single manufacturer that it does not name.
Microsoft indicates that it is waiting for the publisher to provide a corrective update of its driver to offer it directly via Windows Update in order to resolve this audio problem.
