DECRYPTION – Faced with increasing health spending, the French Mutualité has announced a significant increase in member contributions next year, despite the absence of a Social Security budget.
Another increase. For 2025, mutual health insurance companies plan to increase their contributions by 6% on average, after 8.1% in 2024. A decision judged « inevitable » by the French Mutuality, because these rates are calculated in relation to health expenses. However, this decision comes as the Social Security financing bill (PLFSS) for 2025 – which provided for savings for Social Security and, therefore, new expenses to be borne by mutual insurance companies – was blown up with the censorship of the Barnier government , taking these measures with him in his fall.
