The cyberattack which hit the Vidymed group on December 7 is not without consequences for patients. Medical records can no longer be viewed in their entirety. The Vaud authorities are calling on all primary care doctors and pharmacists to be vigilant, RTS learned.
In a letter sent Monday, nine days after the computer attack, the cantonal doctor and the medical director of Vidymed explain that access to the files stored by the group is still not guaranteed. It is therefore not possible to have knowledge of an entire medical file.
The Canton calls on doctors and pharmacists to be vigilant, even if it affirms that the safety of patient care is ensured in the four Vidymed centers.
No medical error
The group assures that there have been no medical errors since the cyberattack. He also claims that this letter was sent more as a precaution than because of proven medical problems. This is confirmed by the Canton, which notes that, in this matter, it intervenes in support of the private group.
The Vaud pharmacy society has not noticed any serious consequences either. In pharmacies, this lack of access to medical files mainly causes administrative overload with, for example, confirmations having to be made by telephone with certain doctors.
We do not currently know when all the data of patients monitored at Vidymed will be accessible again.
