Foie gras sold in Leclerc stores recalled just before the end of year holidays

On toast or as an accompaniment to meat, foie gras is a star food at the end of the year celebrations. But be careful if you have recently purchased it, it could be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. This bacteria can cause listeriosis, a rare but serious infection. The alert published on the Rappel Conso website concerns a block of Canard du Sud-Ouest foie gras from the Delpeyrat brand, sold in Leclerc stores throughout .

The batches concerned, vacuum-packed with a weight of 540g, were marketed on December 12, bear the mention H3410097 and the international article code (GTIN) 3067163647869. They must not be consumed and may be subject to a refund. The contact number for consumers is 0800710641.

People who have consumed foie gras and who present with “fever, isolated or accompanied by headaches, and body aches, are invited to consult their doctor and report this consumption,” advises the Rappel Conso website.

“Serious forms with neurological complications and maternal or fetal damage in pregnant women can also sometimes occur. Pregnant women as well as immunocompromised people and the elderly should be particularly attentive to these symptoms,” adds the site.

Listeriosis is a disease that can be serious and has an incubation period of up to eight weeks. The presence of the bacteria Listeria monocytogenes in the food industry causes numerous recalls and withdrawals of foodstuffs each year.
