The Junior Ballet, in four stages

From Wednesday, the Geneva Junior Ballet takes the stage at the Salle du Lignon to present its work to the public. This Mix 33 program will reveal an anthology of choreographic creations by international artists. Starting with Emanuel Gat, whose Second movement of his piece Freedom Sonata created last June at the Festival, enters the Ballet Junior repertoire. To celebrate his 30 years of dancing, the artist was interested in the structure of the ariette or aria from Beethoven’s sonata no. 32, which he translated into movement. He was inspired by this musical work, renowned for its technique, to compose a dance piece for 11 performers. Here, it is a former BJ student, Noé Girard, who is responsible for transmitting the score to the 18 first-year dancers, while adapting it for this large group. Another piece entered in the repertoire, Touch Baseto music by Bach, written by van Opstal, former soloist of Nederlands Dans Theater. Cathedral by Marcos Morau will be the third work in this program orchestrated by an assistant who studied at the Junior Ballet. Finally, the evening will end with a percussive and tribal bAD by the renowned Hofesh Shechter.
