As part of the “Riaya 2024-2025” operationnearly 300 people benefited from the services of a multidisciplinary medical caravan, organized this weekend, in the commune of Oulad Sidi Abdelhakem (province of Jerada).
Organized by the provincial delegation of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection in Jerada, in coordination with local and provincial authorities, this humanitarian initiative aims to strengthen health services for the benefit of populations in areas suffering the effects of the wave of cold.
It also aims to fill the deficit recorded in healthcare provision in the province, by bringing health services closer to the local population, particularly the most vulnerable categories (children, women and the elderly), particularly in the face of a decline significant increase in temperatures in the region and illnesses linked to the cold snap.
For the provincial delegate of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, Mohamed Ajbilou, this caravan is part of the practical measures aimed at mitigating the impacts of the cold snap that the province is experiencing, with temperatures dropping below from zero, as well as within the framework of improving and bringing specialized health services closer to the population.
In press statements, he explained that this initiative, supervised by 25 health professionals, including 6 specialist doctors, made it possible to carry out some 633 consultations in various specialties, including general medicine, gynecology-obstetrics, pediatrics, pediatric surgery, otolaryngology (ENT), ophthalmology, urology, as well as screening and monitoring of chronic diseases, in addition to free distribution of medicines to nearly 300 beneficiaries.
For his part, Kamal El Haissoufi, child surgeon, indicated that the medical team of the caravan diagnosed various medical cases according to the specific needs of each patient, for example by directing cases requiring surgical intervention to the provincial hospital. de Jerada, adding that patients requiring medical follow-up were referred to the same hospital or to the nearest health center.
