Flu vaccination data recorded in pharmacies is now visible on the Brussels and Walloon Health Networks. This is what the Walloon and Brussels Health Networks indicate in a press release published Monday. The new Vaccicard module, gradually integrated into healthcare professionals’ software, centralizes all vaccination data, including that of pharmacies, health summaries (SumEHR) of treating physicians, as well as Vaccinnet data linked to COVID -19.
This development, made possible thanks to the collaboration between the Belgian Pharmaceutical Association (APB), Ophaco and the health networks, allows data from pharmacies via e-Forms to be automatically shared with the Health Networks. This information is accessible to patients and authorized healthcare professionals, according to the rules in force.
The new Vaccicard module, gradually integrated into healthcare professionals’ software, centralizes all vaccination data, including that of pharmacies, health summaries (SumEHR) of treating physicians, as well as Vaccinnet data linked to COVID -19. The objective is to ultimately provide a global and complete view of patients’ vaccination status.
Simplified access for professionals and patients
Healthcare professionals can now consult data via two main means: a Vaccicard link in the list of documents in patient files within their DMI, or via the regional professional portal. Ultimately, complete integration with the various business software is planned, with production already underway for Medinect, Medspring and CareConnect in the first quarter of 2025.
This initiative also aims to reduce errors such as double vaccinations, particularly critical for vulnerable patients, and to enrich the vaccination status of patients through better collaboration between the different players in the medical sector.
The Brussels and Walloon Health Networks, supported by AVIQ, Vivalis and the German-speaking Community, encourage health professionals to promote this progress to their patients to improve overall vaccination monitoring.
