The UEMOA Regional Securities Exchange (BRVM) reached a new milestone on December 13, 2024 with a record capitalization of more than 10,000 billion FCFA.
BRVM recorded a market capitalization of 10,058.83 billion FCFA, or more than 16 billion US dollars. This unprecedented milestone illustrates the exceptional dynamism of the financial center common to the eight countries of the UEMOA area.
At the start of the Regional Securities Exchange in September 1998, the capitalization was estimated at 836.19 billion FCFA. It will stand at 3,336.65 billion FCFA in 2008 compared to 4,031.38 billion FCFA in 2012.
In 2021, the market capitalization reached 6,085.41 billion FCFA and a volume of 7,966.96 billion FCFA in 2023. Today, the region has 200,000 securities accounts with outstanding bond securities valued at nearly 20,000 billion CFA francs.
This increase of more than 1,102.94% since the creation of the BRVM is due to the sustained economic growth of UEMOA countries (around 5.8% on average for more than 20 years) and the dynamism of market players. .
With a gain of more than 2,000 billion FCFA in one year and the listing of the Benin National Lottery, this December 13, 2024 (100.5 billion FCFA at the time of introduction), the BRVM is among the most important African stock exchanges. efficient.
