All's well that ends well. The two hikers, actively sought since Saturday December 7, 2024 in the Hautes-Pyrénées, were finally found this Wednesday December 11, 2024.

After launching new research, the PGHM of Hautes-Pyrénées was able to recover them. Having gone hiking on Saturday above Cauterets, the two men spent several nights at the Oulettes de Gaube refuge, at the foot of Vignemale, while waiting for the weather to improve. Once the sky became milder and the weather alert lifted, the two men resumed their journey and spent last night in a cabin.

It was on the way back that the mountain rescuers found them. Safe and sound, they were dropped off at their vehicle.

The hikers, one of whom is from Cauterets, were due to return home on Sunday after spending the night at the Oulettes de Gaube refuge. With no news since this weekend, their families had sounded the alert.

Mountain rescuers then began research, relying on significant resources. The Guardia Civil helicopter had narrowly missed them at the said refuge. The two men were already on their way home. Even though the weather was bad, they were well equipped. The two men will be interviewed by the gendarmerie over the next few hours.
