A 74-year-old American has dedicated himself to decorating an entire street for Christmas for four years.

The magic of Christmas. For four years, every year, John Reichart, 74, has transformed an entire street in his neighborhood into a real Christmas decor in Iowa, in the United States. This tradition began after Joan, his wife, learned she had Alzheimer's disease, reports CBS News . Married for 53 years, the Marine veteran hopes to give his wife new memories.

“Without my wife, I don’t know if I would have done it. But she wanted Christmas, so I gave it to her. I would do anything to make her happy.”declared the septuagenarian.

Neighbors, deeply touched by this initiative, came to help him. “I think the whole neighborhood feels very lucky to have him.”said a neighbor CBS. “It’s really moving”added another, observing the scene with emotion. John Reichart does not intend to stop there and wants to continue this great initiative for years to come “as long as she is well” and even after.

Joan said she really liked the festive spirit that her husband had brought to the neighborhood.
