Mathieu Olivier was not laughing on Friday afternoon. Enraged, the tough guy threw down his gloves twice rather than once, with no pity for his opponents.
Martin Pospisil was the first brave one. Midway through the second period, the Slovakian forward of the Calgary Flames could not digest a check from the Quebecer against defender Joel Hanley, so much so that he went to challenge the formidable Blue fighter Columbus Jackets.
From the start, the fight was one-sided. Olivier happily distributed the blows until a teammate of Pospisil, Brayden Pachal, tried to intervene.
Pachal grabbed Olivier from behind to control him. And Olivier didn’t like it at all. Seeing red, he headed towards Pachal after finishing with Pospisil, but two officials were in his way.
Towards the end of the second period, a second courageous player emerged from the Flames. The diminutive but fiery Ryan Lomberg deigned to exchange blows with Olivier. Unfortunately for the plague of Flames, Olivier, who was in a terrible mood, bombarded his rival, who saw all the colors.
