Lycée Louis Massignon: parents of students organize a demonstration

Parents of students in the 5th and 3rd grades of the Louis Massignon high school in Bouskoura are sounding the alarm in the face of a situation that they consider worrying.

For several months, a French teacher within the establishment has been “increasing repeated absences” and accuses, according to them, “a deficit in skills and pedagogy, endangering the learning of their children”, we can read in a press release from parents.

To denounce this situation and demand concrete measures, parents are organizing a demonstration this Thursday, November 28, 2024 at 7:45 a.m., in front of the doors of the establishment.

According to the parents, the teacher concerned had already been the subject of reports in the past for recurring absences. Some former students and their families, contacted by the parents’ collective, confirm that the situation has persisted for almost two years.

The parents underline the urgency of acting to prevent the situation from becoming irrecoverable and indicate that despite repeated questions, the school administration has not provided a satisfactory response.

“The absence of constructive dialogue and a lasting solution, such as a temporary or permanent replacement of the teacher, demonstrates contempt for the legitimate concerns of families,” underlines the parents’ collective.

Contacted by our colleagues from Site info, Pascal Roques, principal of the Louis Massignon high school, ensures that “this situation is the subject of ongoing dialogue with parents and parent associations. We have put in place an action plan around this situation to support it and to propose solutions that support student learning. This is our number one priority.” He adds: “We are an establishment that works on the issue of academic excellence and the personal development of students. Co-education is our priority.”
