A show to watch this Wednesday at 7:50 p.m. on RTL tvi.
When he was born in 1997, Harry Potter was just a little paper hero invented by an illustrious unknown, Joanne Rowling. Twenty-seven years later, the sorcerer’s apprentice is one of the best-known fictional characters, loved by hundreds of millions of fans, of all ages and in all countries. Harry Potter has thus become a brand that is now worth at least 15 billion euros.
Books, films and especially merchandising have made the fortune of its author and that of the production company Warner Bros. It is she who holds the magical license to sell thousands of products derived from the universe: magic wands, clothing, jewelry and other accessories, not forgetting figurines, board games, video games, puzzles…
Some of these objects are collector’s items that fetch astronomical sales prices: perhaps you have some in your cellar? But how does Warner protect its license? How far does it exploit the Harry Potter universe? And by what magic do some people manage to benefit from the power of attraction of the little British wizard without paying anything to anyone? “At all costs” carried out the investigation.
