BEIJING, Nov. 27 (Xinhua) — An all-cargo plane bound for Derby, the United Kingdom, loaded with about 100 tons of cross-border e-commerce goods, took off from Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport in Hangzhou on Saturday morning. the Chinese province of Zhejiang (east).

This is the second all-cargo international air route launched in Hangzhou, following the opening of the Hangzhou-Los Angeles route, in November alone, the month of the annual “Black Friday” promotional season.

This route will offer three cargo flights each week to mainly transport clothing, accessories, furniture supplies and other cross-border e-commerce goods. It is the first all-cargo air link between Zhejiang province and the United Kingdom and helps goods from local e-tailers reach Europe.

“About 75 percent of our platform’s goods are exported to Europe, and the opening of the new route effectively increases transportation capacity during the peak season,” said Yan Wu, an official with AliExpress, a shipping service. online retail owned by the Chinese Alibaba Group.

Compared with previous years, “Black Friday” promotions on major e-commerce platforms will last longer this year, and cross-border e-commerce goods will reach an early export peak.

This year, as of September 30, 127 new international air cargo routes have been opened in China, accounting for more than 370 round-trip flights per week, reveal statistics from the air logistics committee of the China Logistics and Purchasing Federation .

According to analyses, since this year, the rise of cross-border e-commerce has laid the foundation for the growth of air cargo demand.

In the first three quarters of 2024, China’s cross-border e-commerce imports and exports reached 1.88 trillion yuan, an increase of 11.5 percent year-on-year, customs data showed.
