Rabat – The number of municipal schools increased from 226 in 2021 to 329 in 2024, an increase of 103 schools, said Monday in Rabat, the Minister of National Education, Preschool and Sports, Mohamed Saad Berrada .
In response to a question on “the generalization of municipal schools in the rural world”, during an oral question session in the House of Representatives, Mr. Berrada reported more than 83,000 students who benefit from the services of these schools , stressing that the roadmap for the reform of the national education system for the period 2022-2026 has expanded the municipal school offer and made it possible to amend the provisions of framework law 51.17 relating to the system education, training and scientific research.
Likewise, the minister noted that 51 additional municipal schools will be built in 2025, noting that the ministry’s efforts continue to promote municipal schools.
In his response to another question on “bringing education closer to citizens”, the minister indicated that the education system has more than 12,300 educational establishments, including 8,500 primary educational establishments, 2,298 college educational establishments, 1,500 secondary schools, and approximately 13,000 satellite schools located in various remote areas.
And added that the coverage rate of primary education at the level of rural communes has reached 100%, while this percentage is 77% for college education, noting that a set of standards have been set for the construction of educational establishments, in particular demographic indicators, making up for deficits, human resources management and the availability of the land base.
