Two people have already been bitten and taken care of, announces the Indre prefecture. The latter warns the thousands of revelers present at the Villegongis teknival, not far from Châteauroux, on the presence of vipers on the agricultural site chosen by the organizers.

“We therefore call on you to be cautious and to respect the following instructions in the event of a bite:

  • Stand still and immobilize the affected limb by raising it slightly.
  • NOTIFY first aiders on site.
  • Promptly remove rings, bracelets, tight shoes, and anything that may cause compression.
  • Above all, DO NOT suck the bite, incise or apply a tourniquet: do not touch the wound. »

About half the time, the poisonous snake does not inject its venom

According to the Ministry of Health, in mainland France, serious snakebites are mainly due to vipers. “Whether venomous or not, they tend to shy away from humans and only bite in self-defense when someone steps on them or approaches them.”
About half the time, the venomous snake does not inject its venom when bitten. In this case, we speak of a dry bite: it only causes local symptoms.
In the case of a bite with venom, victims are usually treated in hospital. “The use of anti-venom serum is not systematic. This must be inoculated by a doctor, because it can cause serious side effects such as an anaphylactic reaction. This is why anti-venom serum is reserved severe cases of snakebite.”

23,000 “teknivaliers”

Since Thursday morning, 6 a.m., thousands of people have converged on this small town to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the teknival, organized by Frenchtek, the annual high mass for techno music fans.

This Saturday, May 20 in the morning, 23,000 “teknivaliers” were already present. The authorities, who have not received any request for authorization and who had also banned this gathering in the department, expect a peak at the end of the day, with probably 30,000 people present, from all over France and Europe.

Four urgently injured

Several serious injuries have been listed: “The SDIS [service départemental d’incendie et de secours] counts a cumulative 64 entries to the advanced medical post (29 this night), including four in absolute urgency, 58 in relative urgency and two involved, ”details the prefecture of Indre.
