Why Vert is leaving the social network X (formerly Twitter) – vert.eco

Rated While Elon Musk has transformed his social network into a disinformation machine, seriously undermining democracy, Vert turns our back on X. We explain the reasons for our choice and where to find us.

Since its acquisition by Elon Musk at the end of 2022, Twitter, renamed , the libertarian billionaire decided to lay off 75% of his workforce, reduce moderation services and reinstate several accounts banned in the name of “freedom of expression”.

During the last American presidential campaign, he transformed his network into a veritable propaganda machine in the service of Donald Trump, using disinformation methods more extreme than those used by Russia. He modified the algorithm so that his posts (3,000 in the last month) and those of the future president enter the feeds of all X users.

On November 13, this sociopath who dreams of being equal to the gods, as his biography depicts, was rewarded by Trump, who appointed him to the “department of government efficiency” in charge of “dismantling the government bureaucracy “. A triumph for mass disinformation in the service of the far right.

For the writing of Vertit’s the straw that breaks an already full vase. Vert leaves X and thus joins in their movement his colleagues from the British newspaper The Guardian, the Spanish Vanguardia, the regional daily Ouest-, the journalist Salomé Saqué and many others.

Vert will stop publishing on X, but our page will remain active to avoid any identity theft. In addition to our accounts on Instagram and LinkedIn, you will now be able to follow us on Bluesky (created by the former boss of Twitter) and Threads (which belongs to the Meta group, owner of Facebook and Instagram).

Disinformation destroys public debate and fuels hate speech from the far right. Media, journalists: let’s massively turn our backs on this network which has left the democratic field a long time ago.
