Gambia: the president restructures his Cabinet | APAnews

The Government of the Republic of The Gambia today announced important appointments at the highest level of the executive branch.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services received by APA, President Adama Barrow has created a new ministerial portfolio in his office. The incumbent of this position will serve as a senior advisor and administrator to the President, ensuring effective coordination of presidential priorities.

The President has therefore appointed Mod K. Ceesay as Chief of Staff and Minister at the Presidency, effective November 18, 2024. Mr. Ceesay will be responsible for supervising the daily operations of the presidential office and coordinating the work of the various ministries and departments for the implementation of the President’s decisions.

Furthermore, as part of a restructuring aimed at increasing efficiency, the President also decided to merge the traditionally separate roles of Cabinet Secretary and Head of Civil Services. Thus, Alieu Njie has been appointed to the newly created position of Cabinet Secretary and Head of Civil Services, effective November 15, 2024.

This move aims to consolidate development policies at the Cabinet level while ensuring that programs are implemented seamlessly across the public administration.
