The big day has arrived. The Al Hoceima Grand Stadium will be officially opened on Monday evening to host the match between Madagascar and the Comoros Islands, as part of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) qualifiers.
The stadium, located in the Aït Kamra commune, is an infrastructure with modern standards meeting the criteria for organizing international football events, particularly in terms of the field, changing rooms, equipment related to sound and lighting and signaling systems.
Built as part of the “Al Hoceima, Manarat Al Moutawassit” spatial development program over an area of 20 hectares, the stadium meets, through its architecture and spatial distribution, international standards in terms of safety and comfort of players and spectators.
In a statement to MAP, the regional director of the National Company for the Production and Management of Sports Equipment (SONARGES) in Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima, Anas Jbilou, indicated that the Grand Al Hoceima stadium in Aït Kamra welcomes Monday its first match, which will pit two African teams against each other, as part of the CAN 2025 qualifiers.
The stadium, with a capacity of 11,000 seats, has a high-quality natural grass pitch, he said, noting that the stadium also includes modern technologies in terms of lighting, sound system, giant screens and electronic advertising panels.
The stadium, which meets the latest standards for seismic construction, includes various facilities, including a space dedicated to press conferences with a capacity of 200 seats, a VIP box, in addition to two large changing rooms dedicated to players, a- he added.
He further specified that the stadium also has rooms for the refereeing team and for match observers, a medical center and an infirmary, as well as a parking lot that can accommodate 2,500 cars, stressing that the stands are covered with a new generation roof.
The official also noted that the construction of this sports facility, with advanced architectural and technical specifications, is part of a national strategy aimed at supporting national sport and providing it with modern facilities meeting standards. international events, thus strengthening Morocco’s capacity to host large-scale sporting events.
It should be noted that the facade, roof and seats of the Grand Stadium of Al Hoceima were made in white and blue colors, in accordance with the visual identity of the city.
