All the managers of the Montreal Canadiens and all the players of the team who have already played with Shea Weber were present in Toronto for the induction of the former defenseman into the Hockey Hall of Fame on Monday evening.
The Sainte-Flanelle was in action during the day in Buffalo, where it returned to victory by beating the Sabers 7 to 5. Carey Price, Paul Byron and Marc Bergevin were also in the audience.
It was Serge Savard who presented Weber with his official Hall of Fame plaque.
“I also want to thank Marc Bergevin, Geoff Molson and the Canadian for giving me the opportunity to play in the most passionate hockey city I have ever seen,” Weber said in his speech.
“I think I also have to thank David Poile [l’ancien DG des Predators de Nashville] for that too,” he continued, creating hilarity in the room.
“After the trade, the fans welcomed me and made me feel like I was home and there for my entire career. I want to thank Montreal fans for all the good memories, especially during our playoff run in 2021.”
“Thank you very much,” he said in French.
Drafted by the Predators in the second round (49e in total) from the 2003 amateur auction, Weber played in Nashville from 2005 to 2016. He was then traded to the CH in return for PK Subban. The British Columbia native played five seasons for the Canadiens and was the team’s captain for four seasons.

In the NHL, Weber hit the target 224 times and provided 365 assists for 589 points in 1,038 games. It was numerous injuries that ended his career after the 2021 Stanley Cup Final.
The giant defender has also worn Canada’s colors numerous times on the international stage, winning gold medals at the Junior World Championships (2005), the Senior World Championships (2007) and the Olympic Games. Olympics (2010 and 2014).
