(APS) – The Group of Shipowners and Fishing Industrialists in Senegal (GAIPES) presented to the Minister of Fisheries and Maritime and Port Infrastructure, Fatou Diouf, a check for 37 million CFA francs intended for victims of the floods caused by the flooding of the river in Bakel (east) and Matam (north).
The GAIPES donation was given to Ms. Diouf on Thursday in Diamniadio (west).
The Group of Shipowners and Fishing Industrialists in Senegal wants to contribute in this way to the surge of solidarity in favor of flood victims and to the relief operations carried out by the State, according to its president, Libasse Diop.
The Minister of Fisheries and Maritime and Port Infrastructure welcomed the “generous” initiative of GAIPES.
This aid provided to flood victims is proof of the commitment of fishing stakeholders to actively participate in the well-being of populations, according to her.
”The mobilization of fishing stakeholders is crucial for vulnerable communities, for their return to normal life,” said Fatou Diouf.
