The president of the Pessac mosque, Abdourahmane Ridouane, is currently placed under judicial control. His trial is scheduled for January 13, following a charge of glorifying terrorism linked to a publication honoring Ismaïl Haniyeh. This information was confirmed by Anadolu, citing a source close to the matter.
Abdourahmane Ridouane was placed in police custody after a report from the Ministry of the Interior. Initially, he was due to appear before the Meaux court, but the hearing was postponed until January. Although he has been detained in an Administrative Detention Center since August 8, he will be released at the end of the 90 days of legal detention, as announced by his lawyer Sefen Guez Guez on the social network X.
The Council of State rejected an appeal he had filed to challenge his expulsion from France, considering his publications to justify this measure. For the administration, these publications compromised the interests of the State, although a Bordeaux court had previously expressed an unfavorable opinion on this expulsion.
Lawyer Abdourahmane Ridouane, lawyer Sefen Guez Guez, maintains that his client is targeted because of his commitment to the Palestinian cause and his criticism of French policy at the international level. Among the obstacles to his expulsion is Niger’s refusal to issue a consular pass necessary for his return.
This case is part of a broader context where several Muslim religious and associative figures in France find themselves facing accusations around separatism and support for Palestine.
