The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) confirmed the reopening of the Ville-Marie station shortly after 10 p.m., on its X account.
Around 7:15 p.m., authorities were alerted due to an armed attack that occurred on Cartier Street, near Sainte-Catherine Street, said the Montreal Police Service (SPVM).
The victim, a 48-year-old man, was conscious when the police arrived, but injured in the lower body with a sharp object. He was quickly transported to a hospital, but his injuries are not life-threatening, the SPVM said.
“The attack occurred outside the Papineau metro station,” said Caroline Chèvrefils, spokesperson for the Police Department.
A security perimeter was erected around the scene to allow investigators to clarify the circumstances of the attack. Checks will also be made on surveillance cameras that may have captured the scene, said the SPVM.
For the moment, the authorities have not yet made any arrests.
