Bad weather: Brussels and two Walloon provinces on yellow alert, 1722 activated

Farid El Mokaddem, Mr. Weather 2.0, is the guest of the Grand Interview: “When I was younger, I was a little ashamed to talk about my passion for the weather”

The regions between the Coast and the Sambre and Meuse furrow are particularly concerned, with a risk of accumulations which could locally exceed 25 liters/m² in 24 hours (or, very locally, 30 liters/m²). The warning concerns a fairly wide area because the most active front is still uncertain. This warning is therefore expected to evolve when the situation becomes clearer.

In anticipation, the FPS Interior has therefore activated the special number 1722, in order to prevent emergency lines from being clogged with calls for interventions that can wait. In the event of damage caused by a storm or water damage for which assistance from the fire brigade is required, you must therefore dial this number. If a life is in danger, you should call 112.

The FPS also recommends using the electronic counter 1722.be, considered “the most direct way to request help from firefighters in situations where no life is in danger”.
