Narjiss Tahiri devotes a series, “Chokran”, to gratitude

Narjiss Tahiri did it. A recognized director, notably for her collaborations with 2M, she has just launched a series of capsules on YouTube around a theme close to her heart: gratitude. “The concept was born a long time ago. After my studies in , I wanted to create a project around positive vibes to encourage people to be generous“, she explains.

Upon her return to Morocco, with a diploma from the École supérieure de production audiovisuelle (ESRA) in hand, Narjiss Tahiri was faced with a cultural shock. Around her, she is criticized for overusing the word “thank you”. “My aunt, who wanted to protect me, advised me to stop repeating “thank you” in the professional environment. But I wanted to stay true to my principles. It hurt and frustrated me“, she confides.

Director of a production company, Narjiss Tahiri had the trigger a few years ago when she contracted a serious illness. “I had to make adjustments when doctors, unable to determine the cause of my illness, concluded that stress was probably the cause.“, she says. “At the time, I felt like a tightrope walker, trying to balance society’s expectations with my own values.

It is this reflection which motivated the launch of “Chokran”, capsules broadcast exclusively on social networks for the moment. The concept: invite little-publicized people, from your entourage or not, to come and express their gratitude in front of the camera. Questions like “Who would you like to thank? What positive experience are you most grateful for? What negative experience ultimately taught you the most?» are asked of them. “The important thing is to let the guests speak and get them to respond spontaneously. It’s almost therapeutic, because it pushes them to quickly structure their thoughts», Specifies the director.

Initially designed for television, the project will soon evolve in price. “At the end of the year we will organize an awards ceremony. It will be a question of voting for the best testimonies and for the best act of generosity», Announces Narjiss Tahiri, proud to have finally been able to make her dream come true.
