A pedestrian seriously injured while trying to cross Crémazie Boulevard

A 40-year-old woman who was trying to cross Crémazie Boulevard on foot was seriously injured when she was hit at low speed by the driver of a van leaving a commercial parking lot on Friday afternoon in Montreal.

The accident occurred a little before 2 p.m., on Crémazie Boulevard, very close to the Papineau roundabout.

The victim allegedly attempted to cross the tracks when the driver of a Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck was making a right turn from the parking lot of a grocery store onto Crémazie Boulevard.

The impact took place just a few meters from a pedestrian crossing.

The woman was rushed to hospital for treatment of a serious head injury. His life would hang by a thread.

A small bloodstain was visible on the road where the collision occurred.

The driver of the van, a 46-year-old man, was not injured. He will be met by investigators to give his version of the facts.

A large section of Crémazie Boulevard was closed to westbound traffic to allow collision investigation specialists from the Montreal police to conduct their investigation. However, the scene was lifted a little later in the evening, while the pedestrian’s condition remained critical.
