Palpating and rolling or the anti-cellulite weapon that gets people talking

Could cellulite, the sworn enemy of millions of women, have a cure? Palpate-rolling, an ancestral massage technique, is experiencing renewed interest for its promising effects on orange peel skin.

“Palpating and rolling stimulates blood and lymphatic circulation, promoting the elimination of toxins,” explains Sarah Qadiri, physiotherapist working in Mohammedia. This technique would involve pinching and rolling the skin between the fingers, targeting the areas affected by cellulite.

Encouraging results are emerging. According to a study conducted by Beijing Scientific University, 70% of participants noticed a visible reduction in cellulite after 10 sessions. “The skin becomes smoother and firmer,” confirms our specialist.

But be careful of false promises. “Paping and rolling is not a miracle solution,” she tempers. “It must be accompanied by a balanced diet and regular physical activity.”

The technique also appeals for its natural side. “It’s an alternative to invasive treatments,” underlines Ghizlane, 35, a follower for a year, met at the Nassim physiotherapy office. “I see a real difference in my legs.”

This method is now integrated into many beauty institutes. In a physiotherapy office, count around 300 dirhams for a 15-minute session. In a beauty salon, you should pay 500 dirhams for a 10-minute session.

According to some testimonies collected, this technique is passed down from mother to daughter in the Middle Atlas mountains to the point of becoming a post-hammam ritual. “Hence the flat stomach of the Amazigh women of the Atlas,” suspects Fatima-Zahra, a fan of traditional Moroccan recipes passed down by word of mouth.
