Three weeks after the announcement by Lactalis to reduce its milk collection in France, the Farmers’ Confederation decided to react by taking action. This Friday, October 18, 2024, around forty breeders were invited to the Retiers factory (Ille-et-Vilaine).

For Stéphane Gallais, national secretary of the Peasant Confederation in charge of livestock, “this is a bad signal sent to agriculture by Lactalis, for whom only its margin and profits count. Peasants are considered a mineral that can be exploited. And we decide overnight to close the mine. The question is what breeding do we want in our countryside tomorrow? »
