The SSR survey shows: a NO to extreme motorway projects is within reach

The SSR survey published today shows that rejection of motorway extensions is progressing. A NO vote at the ballot box is possible. The formation of opinions is not yet complete and the press revelations on the lack of transparency of the federal administration confirm the criticisms of the NO camp. The alliance will make every effort to ensure that a majority of the electorate rejects the disproportionate extension of motorways on November 24.

The result of the poll is revealing for the alliance: “We can clearly see that discontent is growing. More and more people are refusing to squander 5.3 billion on the extension of motorways,” declares Stéphanie Penher, director of the ATE. “The contradictions within the federal administration regarding road safety on highways are particularly worrying. Furthermore, the very divergent cost estimates between the Federal Council and FEDRO are causing more and more confusion. Such a lack of transparency is unacceptable in a democracy.”

The SSR poll shows that the result is likely to be close at the polls. The voting campaign will therefore be strengthened in the coming weeks. The alliance will continue to work hard to prevent these extreme highway projects.
