At the Mazan rape trial, Dominique D., a repeat offender, admits “the facts, but not the intention”

These four are the most spectacular cases, not the most representative. Four exceptions, a group apart from the multitude of men tried for rape before the criminal court. Among the 50 co-defendants of Dominique Pelicot who have taken the stand for five weeks, 40 came to Mazan only once. Six others returned a second time. And then there are these four, who came, came back, and came back again. And again. And again. And again. Six times in total.

The first of these repeat offenders – all of whom appear detained – was heard by the court at the beginning of October: Jérôme V., six visits to Mazan between March and June 2020, including four in full confinement. This 46-year-old accused, suffering from “sexual addiction” recognized everything. He knew before the first meeting that Gisèle Pelicot would be drugged without her knowledge, he was aware of the “immoral and illegal character” of the situation, he is the only one willing to say that this is precisely what excited him: “Having any possibility of action was part of a possible fantasy. »

Too bad if reality had not lived up to the fantasy, Jérôme V. could not help but come back. “From the moment I returned there, a part of me found myself there. » And then Dominique Pelicot stopped contacting him. “Luckily, because I don’t know if I would have been able to say no”had recognized this tortured man and eager to explain himself, to express his ” shame “ and regrets which, unlike those of many of his co-accused, did not seem artificial. “You are disarmingly sincere”Antoine Camus, Gisèle Pelicot’s lawyer, told him.

“I go back on what I said”

It’s hard to deny it when you’ve been to the Pelicots’ house six times, we thought. Until the calamitous interrogation of Dominique D., Wednesday October 16. This former soldier turned truck driver, born forty-five years ago in the North, youngest of 16 children placed in foster care at six months old, had nevertheless admitted everything from his custody: Gisèle Pelicot drugged at Temesta without her knowledge, the precautions not to wake her, the excitement, etc. He who had registered on Coco.fr at “the search for novelty”to compensate for declining marital sexuality, had even revealed to investigators the existence of the first of his six visits to the Pelicots (between February 2015 and September 2020), of which, extremely rarely, there is no photo or video.
