Following the decisions of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU), annulling the validity of the Morocco-EU fishing and agricultural agreements, the European Union reiterated its position this Friday. In a press release, European diplomacy reaffirms “ the great value it attaches to its strategic partnership with Morocco, which is old, vast and deep ».

The EU thus takes note of the judgments of the CJEU concerning the appeals against the judgment of the general court in 2021, as well as the response to the request for a preliminary ruling in the labeling of fruits and vegetables from the Sahara territory. “ The European Commission is currently analyzing these judgments in detail », Reports the same source, noting that the validity of the agreement on agricultural products will be preserved for an additional period of 12 months.

In this context, the EU also underlines its intention to further develop this partnership. “ Over the years, we have established a deep friendship and a strong and diverse cooperation, which we intend to raise to a higher level in the coming weeks and months », Underline the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and her Vice-President Josep Borrell, in the press release.

« In close cooperation with Morocco, the EU firmly intends to preserve and continue to strengthen close relations with Morocco in all areas of the Morocco-EU partnership, in accordance with the principle of pacta sunt servanda », concludes the press release.
