Former Stanislas boarding school manager sentenced to one year suspended prison sentence

Six former students denounced the actions of this former teacher, who was tried this Monday, September 9 in Valenciennes. They denounced in particular “abusive” behavior, “humiliations” and “insults” within the Parisian establishment.

A former boarding school teacher at the private Catholic school Stanislas was sentenced on Monday, September 9, by the judicial court of Valenciennes (North) to one year in prison, suspended, for violence committed between 2013 and 2018 against six students at the Parisian establishment.

He was also sentenced to a five-year ban on engaging in any activity involving regular contact with minors.

The prosecution had requested a six-month prison sentence with a two-year probationary period.

The 61-year-old man was on trial for violence reported by six former students of the preparatory classes at this establishment in central Paris.

“Humiliations” and “abusive” behavior

During the investigation carried out by the juvenile brigade, the six victims had denounced similar behavior: “slaps behind the head”, “humiliations”, “insults”.

A former student, who completed his entire schooling at the Parisian establishment, described “abusive” behavior and “psychological control.” He described the defendant as “omnipresent,” “voyeuristic” and “unbearable.”

“He was moody, stressful, he would come into our rooms, wait for certain classmates when they got out of the shower,” another student testified, also calling him “homophobic.”

Others had mentioned searches of the rooms on several occasions.

Former boarding school teacher already charged with rape

At the bar, the defendant, a man with an imposing build and a receding hairline, contested some of the facts. He repeated that he had simply “respected the rules” of the establishment and denounced a “cabal”.

“I acknowledge that supervisors may have intervened in rooms because they were not tidy,” admitted the former boarding school master, in his brown suit.

“Does that seem normal to you? Isn’t that a flagrant violation of their privacy?” the presiding judge asked. “It was in the rules,” replied the defendant, who was also a music teacher.

This former boarding school teacher was also charged with “rape and sexual assault by a person abusing their position” for acts committed between June 30 and July 1, 2001 in Pontoise (Val-d’Oise), at the Saint-Martin-de-France boarding school, against a student who was then 17 years old.

In this case, the suspect was placed under judicial supervision.
