The government website Rappel Conso announced this Tuesday the recall of numerous batches of bouchot mussels sold in Leclerc stores throughout France. The recall sheets mention a labeling error.
Mussels that should not be consumed at all. The distributor Leclerc announced on Tuesday the recall of several references of mussels called bouchot, named after a cultivation method. According to the recall sheets published, these batches sold throughout France suffered an error in the packaging date, leading to a microbiological risk.
The references concerned
Several batches are affected by this recall and were marketed between Monday and Tuesday:
- Bouchot mussels from the bay of Mont Saint-Michel from the brand Les Viviers d’Armor, lot 24-40989, 24-40984, 24-40983, 24-40984, 24-40994, 24-40986 and 24-41013.
- Bouchot mussels from the bay of Mont Saint-Michel from the brand Nos régions ont du talent, lot 24-40994.
- Bouchot mussels, a guaranteed traditional specialty from the Atelier Poissonerie brand, batch 24-40989, 24-40984 and 24-40983.
- Bouchot STG mussels from Saint-Brieuc from the Les Viviers d’Armor brand, lot 24-40983.
A risk of poisoning
All these sheets mention an error in the packaging date and DLC (one month difference), with a microbiological risk.
“The consumer risks consuming the product after the actual DLC,” warns Rappel Conso.
Consumers are therefore advised to no longer consume these references and request a refund from the points of sale concerned.
