The Delta Festival organisers have announced the cancellation of the SCH concert to open the event, more than a week after the shooting that hit one of their vans as they left one of their shows in La Grande-Motte.
The Delta Festival announced on Tuesday, September 3, that rapper SCH would not perform at the opening of the Marseille festival on Wednesday, September 4. This was to be the artist’s first concert after the fatal shooting that took place in La Grande-Motte in Hérault on Monday, August 26. The continuation of his concert was, since the tragedy, on hold.
“Our thoughts are of course with SCH and his entourage at this difficult time,” said the Delta Festival.
One dead and one seriously injured in La Grande-Motte
It was a van, which was transporting several of the Marseille rapper’s close friends, that was the target of a burst of automatic weapon fire, near the La Dune nightclub where SCH had just finished performing. One man was killed and another seriously injured. The rapper was not in the vehicle at the time of the incident.
The suspects are still “actively sought by the national gendarmerie services”, as indicated by the Montpellier prosecutor’s office when opening an investigation for “murder by an organised gang” and “participation in a criminal association with a view to preparing the aforementioned crimes” on Monday.
At this time, investigations have not yet determined whether the rapper was the person targeted by this burst.
