It is the 245th day of the year and we celebrate Saint Ingrid, but also Eustache, Nonnos and Tachou. September 2 is the day when the Japanese Empire bows to the American nuclear power.

Here is the ephemeris for September 2. This date is marked by the capitulation of Japan to the United States. During the Second World War, these two powers faced each other in what was called the Pacific War.

After the use – for the first time in history – of the atomic bomb, against the cities of Nagasaki and Hiroshima, the Japanese are routed and are forced to surrender. The act of capitulation is signed in Tokyo Bay, on the American ship Missouri.

Who is Saint Ingrid?

Ingrid was the granddaughter of the Swedish King Canute, who lived in the 13th century. Her royal origins made her an important figure, but she chose a path dedicated to spirituality. Saint Ingrid founded a convent, thus showing her commitment to religious and monastic life. Cloistered nuns are women consecrated to God who lead a contemplative life in a closed monastic environment.

In founding the convent, Saint Ingrid dedicated her life to prayer, meditation and the service of God. Saint Ingrid died in 1282 within the convent she had founded.
