For several months now, we have been monitoring the KHL season in Russia very closely, given that we are following the performances of a certain Ivan Demidov.
I like Bogdan Konyushkov, but it’s only for him that Canadian fans follow the KHL so much.
The Habs’ top prospect is playing a very important season for his development, and therefore, all fans want to follow each of his appearances and each of his highlights.
Unfortunately, at the start of the season, there were periods where CH fans didn’t have much to go on in terms of Ivan Demidov’s performance.
For what ?
Well, because his head coach, Roman Rotenberg, wasn’t playing to his full potential, and kept him benched more often than not.
Rotenberg quickly became one of the most hated men in Montreal, because he was greatly harming Demidov’s progress and development.
But finally, by some miracle (#VisiteDeKentHughesEtCompany), Rotenberg has been using Demidov more in recent weeks, and it’s paying off, while Demidov is on fire with 18 points in his last 13 games.
The relationship between Rotenberg and Demidov therefore seems to be at its best currently, even as Rotenberg defends his young player in the face of criticism from journalists.
Indeed, after SKA St. Petersburg’s 3-2 victory over Salavat Yulaev yesterday, a reporter asked Rotenberg if he thought there had been a slowdown in Demidov’s play, given that he had been more discreet in his last two matches.
-Well, Demidov’s head coach quickly came to his player’s defense, asking the reporter if he watched the game.
Subsequently, Rotenberg continued to argue with the journalist and finally praised his young player in various ways.
He explained that for him, Demidov was going to become one of the best players in the world in the future, and that he is the kind of player who fills an arena, like the one in St. Petersburg.
Rotenberg then added by sending an arrow to the journalists, explaining that it is not with the journalists on the ice that we would fill the stands.
In short, it’s nice to see the unloved Rotenberg being positive towards Demidov and to see him defend himself in this way in the face of criticism.
This is likely to give Demidov confidence to finish the season and also do well in the playoffs.
In Burst
– The Rangers goalkeeper has replaced himself.
– Still as sad as a tragedy.
