Bern spends a million for podcasts that no one looks
The state makes its self -promotion via audio posts at confidential audiences.

The number of listeners of the podcast of the Federal Culture Office, which promotes the winners of Swiss literary prizes, is more than confidential. One of the ten episodes even reached only 20 listeners, between May and December 2024. A little meager, for a series which cost 53,000 francs, including 12,000 francs only for music, notes the ” Nzz Am Sonntag ”.
According to the Sunday Zurich, the case is not isolated. It would even be a fading in the federal administration, he observes. The Federal Office of Public Health spent 210,000 francs on its podcast on health themes entitled “Spectra”, a project abandoned since for cost issues.
TRADINGS intended for internal self -promotion, notes the “NZZ”. The State Secretariat for Migration has, for example, produced an eleven-part podcast on the daily life of employees in federal asylum centers, in which a spokesman interviews his own owner.

“It is mainly the employees of the Department of Foreign Affairs who have the floor and who rent their own work,” notes the newspaper. With a recurring message: money is used in an excellent way, and employees are very competent idealists. ”
In order not to be outdone, the Federal Energy Office recently launched the “Deep Storage Podcast” (24,000 francs), with a certain sense of teasing. Title of the first episode: “Filing of the general permit application”. As for the army, it has launched no less than four audio formats in recent years, with nuanced results. Except for one, “Swiss Army Podcast”, each episode of which has been listened to on average 5,400 times. Suffice to say a blockbuster.
The cost of these productions, entrusted to external agencies, is high. In total, calculated the “NZZ AM SONNTAG”, these podcasts cost around 1 million francs. On its own, the Department of Foreign Affairs has spent some 300,000 francs for a podcast broadcast for years, and each episode has been listened to about 300 times.
