Since his arrival in 2023, Ayoub El Kaabi has scored many decisive goals for Olympiacos. On January 23, the Moroccan striker marked a turning point by becoming the top scorer in the club’s history in European competitions.
Incidentally, the Lion of the Atlas offered three precious points to the Piraeus club, in the race to qualify for the next round of the Europa League.
With 21 goals (8 goals in the Europa League, 11 in the Conference League and 2 in the European qualifying phases), Ayoub el Kaabi is ahead of his compatriot Youssef El-Arabi (20 goals).
The Spanish coach, José Mendilibar, did not fail to praise the remarkable performances of the Atlas Lion at a press conference, after the victory against Porto. The technician believes that the player is an “extraordinary striker, who knows how to take advantage of all the goals given to him by his teammates”. He adds that the Moroccan “works well and calmly every day”.
-That’s not all: The Moroccan climbed to first place in the ranking of the best scorers of the season in the Europa League. With five goals this season, El Kaabi joins Barnabàs Varga (Ferencvaros), Rasmus Højlund (Manchester United) Samu Aghehowa (FC Porto) and Yunus Akgun (Galatasaray).
