Summary A TIME HERE A TIME THERE PRACTICAL INFORMATION
The CFS invites you to a meeting, on Friday February 14 and Saturday February 15, 2025, with Alexia Roux and Saad Chakali for the online cinema magazine Des Nouvelles du Front cinematographic.
A TIME HERE
Friday February 14 at 7:00 p.m.
We will discuss their practices with the protagonists. Editing exercises that they call “penultimate things”. Another way of thinking about cinema by continuing to carry a certain idea of criticism but from within the images themselves. For them, it is a matter of thinking about images by thinking with and against them, that is to say, of extracting them from the uninterrupted flows in which they are linked in order to relate them differently: to make them function differently for the finally look, really.
A TIME THERE
Saturday February 15 at 2:00 p.m.
Take some time to first look at two “penultimate things”: one dedicated to contemporary Lebanese filmmaker Ghassan Salhab; the other from a collective project entitled “Some Strings”, a set of filmic gestures from around the world in homage to the Palestinian poet Refaat Alareer. We will then present a constellation of films from the “Video Tracts For Palestine” platform available on Instagram since November 2023. Cinema takes a position on what happens there and comes back to us here – what about Palestine looks at us and concerns us , surrounded by what afflicts our humanity even in our relationship to images.
Two times, therefore, for three movements: the critical field has the practice of editing as its reverse shot and both have as its off-camera this reality which tears up all the screens – Gaza.
