The young goaltender of the Montreal Canadiens, Jakub Dobes, managed to collect his first win at the Bell Centre, which also became his first success at the Temple. He was certainly not perfect in front of the blue-white-red cage, but he showed a lot of character by making key saves at opportune moments during this duel against the New York Rangers.

Dobes thus became the 13th goaltender in the National Hockey League’s extensive history to win each of his first career duels. At the CH, three other goalkeepers have achieved such a feat and they are Wayne Thomas (7 games in 1972-73), Ken Dryden (6 games in 1970-71) and Charlie Lindgren (5 games in 2015 -16 to 2017-18). We are talking here about a colossal feat for the 23-year-old.

The best scenario of this epic is that the fifth victory was won at the Bell Centre, in front of his father, whom he had not seen for more than a year.

“I haven’t seen my dad in a year and a half and he was here tonight. I was a little nervous, because I wanted to do well in front of him. We’re going to celebrate together, that’s for sure!” – Beds

The two men were certainly very proud of this accomplished feat in front of the best spectators on the Bettman circuit, those who come to fill this legendary Bell Center.

“This is the best crowd I’ve ever had! I’ve said it before, it gives me goosebumps… It’s the best place to play and it’s a privilege to play here every night!” – Beds

Since the start of his young career with the blue-white-red, Dobes has presented imperial numbers: five wins, no losses, one shutout, a goals against average of 1.55 and an efficiency percentage of 94% . He remains the best weapon to support Samuel Montembeault, who needed this type of auxiliary to support him properly.
