► 3:27 p.m. – Progress of the ceremony
The ceremony will begin around noon (6 p.m. in France). The first to take the oath of office will be the new vice president, James David Vance, followed by the re-elected American president. Donald Trump will then deliver his inauguration speech, followed by the official departure of Joe and Gill Biden.
Around 1 p.m. (7 p.m. in France) the new American president will join the “president room” (room of presidents) to sign his first decrees. He will then attend the traditional Capitol luncheon, then the presidential parade, which due to the weather will take place within the Capitol One Arenaa sports hall in the Chinatown district of Washington.
After the presidential parade, Donald Trump will be escorted by the army to the White House.
► 15 h 23 Messe et « Tea Time »
As tradition dictates, before the start of the ceremony, Donald Trump went early in the morning to Saint John Church, nicknamed “the church of presidents”, to attend a mass. He then joined the White House, accompanied by his wife Melania, for tea with outgoing President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden.
Donald Trump will then arrive at the Capitol, where guests will have begun to gather.
-► 3:15 p.m. – The interior of the Capitol placed under high security
The ceremony usually takes place outside the Capitol in Washington, on the steps facing the lawns of the National Mall, but the protocol was disrupted due to a cold snap. Donald Trump will therefore take the oath of office in the rotunda of the Capitol, under the dome, the same place where on January 6, 2021, his supporters tried to prevent Congress from certifying Joe Biden’s victory.
The security system will be exceptional, after two assassination attempts against the Republican this summer: 48 kilometers of high barriers and 25,000 police officers have been deployed.
► 3:10 p.m. – Trump will be officially inaugurated at noon (6 p.m. in France)
The inauguration ceremony marks the formal transfer of power between the outgoing U.S. president and the president-elect. At noon Washington time (6 p.m. in France), Donald Trump will officially become the 47th president of the United States and will begin his second term, succeeding Joe Biden. At 78 years old, he will become the oldest American head of state ever invested, after a first stint at the White House between 2017 and 2021.
Hello and welcome to this live dedicated to the inauguration ceremony of Donald Trump.
