A context of strong abstention
“In a context of strong abstention (38.25% participation, Editor’s note), a constituency wrested from the right in 2024 by popular mobilization has therefore returned to its traditional representation,” lamented LFI in a press release.
Gabriel Attal, leader of the presidential Renaissance party, for his part hailed a “victory against the agents of chaos”.
“The extremes have lost two seats in two elections. Our compatriots want action and a France at peace. The choice of the extremes is the path to disorder,” he added, drawing a parallel with the surprise victory of Macronist Lionel Vuibert against an RN candidate in the Ardennes last month.
“Certain victories are of great significance, local and national!”, for his part greeted Prime Minister François Bayrou.

The outgoing MP targeted by accusations of sexist and sexual violence
In Isère, the vote was to elect a replacement for outgoing LFI deputy Hugo Prevost, who resigned in October after accusations of sexist and sexual violence.
During the early legislative elections of 2024, Hugo Prevost narrowly won, and in a triangular tie against Olivier Véran.
During a first round marked by a low participation (35.86%) last Sunday, Lyes Louffok, activist for the rights of children in care and candidate supported by the vast majority of the New Popular Front, painfully arrived by a narrow head. against Camille Galliard-Minier (28.33% against 26.57%).
Very far from Hugo Prevost's score in the first round last year (40.19%).
