“We won!” proclaimed the Republican president-elect in front of thousands of supporters gathered in a Washington room on the eve of taking the oath, continuing: “We like to win, don’t we?”

Before governing, the former real estate developer and businessman, who is prohibited by the Constitution from running again after more than two terms, wanted to savor one last time the excited atmosphere of his victorious campaign.

Burst decrees

The 78-year-old billionaire promised a flurry of decrees on his first day, focusing in particular on the fight against illegal immigration, a major axis of his campaign.

According to the “Wall Street Journal”, Donald Trump will declare, on Monday, a state of emergency at the border with Mexico. It should also eliminate certain programs aimed at promoting diversity in the federal administration, and lift restrictions on oil exploitation.

Another expected measure: pardons for those convicted of storming the Capitol on January 6, 2021, in an attempt to prevent the certification of the election of Joe Biden. Donald Trump, in a long speech, assured his supporters that they would be “very happy” with the decision he would make on the matter on Monday.

Amid cheers, he also considered it necessary to “save TikTok”, a few hours after promising to suspend the application of the law banning the social network, made temporarily inaccessible for a few hours over the weekend.
