The Ministry of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests of Morocco and the German Federal Ministry of Agriculture signed a declaration on Saturday in Berlin creating a Morocco-Germany working group for closer cooperation in the areas of food and agriculture.
This joint declaration was initialed by the Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests, Ahmed El Bouari, and his German counterpart, Cem Özdemir, following a bilateral meeting that the two officials held the event on the sidelines of Green Week in Berlin (January 17 – 26).
The Morocco-Germany working group aims to launch a structured platform intended to strengthen already existing cooperation, intensify exchanges between the two countries, consolidate current partnerships and provide an institutional framework allowing regular debate on current issues and concerns. .
It also aims to promote collaborative and sustainable approaches in the areas of food security, effective management of natural resources and the resilience of agricultural systems in the face of global challenges.
In a statement to the press, following the meeting with his German counterpart, Mr. El Bouari underlined the common desire to strengthen economic relations between Morocco and Germany, while intensifying cooperation in the sectors agriculture and food security.
-The minister also specified that the Morocco-Germany working group will meet every year to address common questions and concerns, particularly in terms of food security, sustainable management of natural resources and agricultural resilience in the face of global challenges.
This initiative is part of Morocco’s participation in the 89th edition of the Berlin Green Week (Grüne Woche), where Morocco is represented by a pavilion, inaugurated Friday by Mr. El Bouari, at the head of a delegation composed of several senior Moroccan officials and professionals, in the presence of its German counterpart, Cem Özdemir.
The Moroccan pavilion brings together 21 exhibitors representing 39 cooperatives from the 12 regions of the Kingdom, and offers typically Moroccan products such as argan oil and its derivatives, olive oil, saffron, dates, as well as aromatic and medicinal plants.
A world reference in the field of agriculture, this year the Grüne Woche brings together more than 1,500 exhibitors from around sixty countries and attracts nearly 400,000 visitors, making Berlin a major crossroads for exchanges around food, agriculture and horticulture.
