The main new feature of this new build of Windows 11 is the addition of an “Administrator Protection” option in the Windows security settings, which we had already talked about previously. This function, accessible via the “Account Protection” tab, now allows users to enable an additional layer of security without requiring the intervention of an IT administrator.

The principle is simple: when protection is activated, any action requiring administrator privileges triggers authentication via Windows Hello. This includes installing software, changing system settings such as the clock or registry, and accessing sensitive data.

The new option could well give malware a hard time

This feature is particularly effective against malware. In case of attempted infection, A verification window appears, allowing users to block the suspicious action while they identify the source of the problem.

The update also brings visual improvements, including expanded colored areas in permission windows for unsigned or untrusted applications. Enabling this protection requires a system reboot.

However, Microsoft is reporting a few known issues. PC Copilot+ users may encounter an error 0xd0000225 affecting the Windows Hello PIN, requiring it to be recreated. Other fixes concern the display of colored window borders and the launch of the Xbox application.

Microsoft regularly strengthens the security of Windows 11 with protection features more accessible to individual and professional users. For those who want to try this new feature, The latest build of Windows 11 is available now to Windows Insider members in the Canary channelwith ISO images available for clean installations.

As always, we do not recommend trying such changes on your main PC. Indeed, the most recent builds are sometimes unstable, and certain important features could well be missing.
