Apple is tightening the screws on Apple Intelligence notification summaries, which sometimes tell big nonsense. The latest iOS 18.3 beta contains safeguards and temporarily disables these summaries for certain apps.
Apple thought it was doing the right thing by developing a system that allows multiple notifications to be summarized in a sentence or two, which saves a little time consulting alerts. But in some cases, this function ofApple Intelligence generates misinterpretations, or even disinformation in the case of press application notifications.
Disable summaries while waiting for something better
This is particularly the case for apps from the BBC : iPhone users recently learned that Rafael Nadal, the “Brazilian” tennis player (he is Spanish) had come out (no), or that Luigi Mangione, the alleged assassin of a CEO American, had killed himself (this is false). After several high-profile and embarrassing cases, Apple has promised improvements.

iOS 18.3 Beta 3 delivered yesterday temporarily disables notification summaries for apps in the “News & Entertainment” categories. For these apps, the function will return in a future software update while Apple improves the “experience”.
-Other changes have also been made with this beta. Notifications generated by Apple Intelligence are now presented in italics, to better distinguish them from other notifications (not sure that this is very clear to users who are not aware of it).
It will be possible to deactivate notification summaries in an app directly from the home screen or notification center of the iPhone or iPad, by scanning the alert and choosing the new option “Deactivate notifications”. summaries”.
When enabling notification summaries, iOS 18.3 will clearly remind you that this is a beta feature. And in the iOS Settings app, Apple will warn that these summaries “ may contain errors“. Remember that this function, and all those of Apple Intelligence, will arrive in Europe (and in French) in April.
