Little Kamilya was hit on Thursday evening on a pedestrian crossing by a 19-year-old motorcyclist who was doing a wheelie.

Little Kamilya, a 7-year-old girl knocked down by a motorbike on Thursday evening in Vallauris (Alpes-Maritimes), died this Sunday evening, it has been learned The Figaro by the family’s lawyer, Me Nabil Boudi. The child had been between life and death since Thursday evening.

The 19-year-old motorcyclist who hit the girl while he was driving “a rear wheel” was indicted and placed under judicial supervision on Saturday evening. The suspect, who was not known to the police or the courts until this tragedy, was until then being prosecuted for “unintentional injuries resulting in total incapacity for work for more than three months due to a clearly deliberate breach of a specific safety or caution obligation by a driver of a motor vehicle”The criminal qualification of the proceedings should change from Monday, with the death of the little girl, in “manslaughter”, according to the family’s lawyer.

Suspect placed under judicial supervision

Before the announcement of the child’s death, the Grasse public prosecutor’s office and the investigating judge had requested that the suspect be placed in provisional detention, but the judge of liberties and detention had decided to place the person concerned under judicial supervision with a certain number of obligations: prohibition on appearing in Vallauris, prohibition on leaving the Alpes-Maritimes department, reporting once every two weeks to the Antibes police station, not entering into contact with the victim of the offence, his parents, brothers and sisters, refraining from driving any motor vehicle on land and finally handing over his driving licence to the court registry.

The Grasse public prosecutor’s office indicated on Saturday evening that it had appealed this decision. This appeal will be examined by the investigating chamber of the Aix-en-Provence Court of Appeal. “as soon as possible”AFP learned from the latter on Sunday. The suspect’s placement under judicial supervision has sparked anger and incomprehension from the girl’s father. “Thank you French justice. From tomorrow, citizens who have not been arrested (sic) in the act know that they can drive as they (sic) want, act crazy on the road. Kill. No respect for our daughter or for ourselves”he reacted on Facebook on Sunday.
