The inhabitants of this Côte-d'Or village ready to do anything to find a doctor

On December 21, the general practitioner from Baigneux-les-Juifs, in Côte-d'Or, 52 kilometers northwest of Dijon, retired after 36 years of service. If the village has less than 300 residentsthe medical office welcomed a patient population of nearly 1,500 people.

Initiatives to attract a replacement

Alerted as soon as the retirement was announced, Mayor Didier Robin stepped up actions to try to recruit a new doctor. Among them, one poster campaign at the entrance to the commune, the distribution de tracts at the Faculty of Medicine and direct exchanges with students. In vain.

In a last attempt, the municipality opted for a original strategy : the realization of a music video on YouTube and Facebook highlighting the assets of the village.

An enthusiastic welcome

The project has generated great enthusiasm among residents, traders… and Internet users! Three days after the publication of the clip, it already counted several tens of thousands of views. The initiative seems to be bearing fruit, since a doctor has expressed interest to settle in the community. A meeting would be planned with this potential successor this Thursday.
